Fernando Cobelo
Fernando Cobelo
Fernando Cobelo is a Venezuelan illustrator based in Turin Italy. Fernando blends the warmth of Latin America with the elegance of European visual culture. His illustrations are bold, poetic, and sometimes a little bit absurd—like if a children’s book and a philosophy class had a baby.
With a background in design and architecture, he approaches illustration as both a craft and a language—using it to explore emotions through powerful visuals. His work has found its way into books, magazines, murals, and campaigns all around the world.
Fernando’s client list reads like a very stylish dinner party: The New Yorker, Netflix, The New York Times, La Repubblica, Disney, Penguin Random House, Kiehl’s, The Washington Post, Samsung, the United Nations, and many more have trusted him to give shape to thoughts and feelings with his unmistakable linework.
His characters are delicate but not fragile. They’re emotional without being melodramatic. In Fernando’s world, a simple line can speak volumes—and often does. Whether he’s exploring mental health, identity, love, or just the strange beauty of being human, his work always manages to feel both deeply personal and wonderfully universal.
Over the years, Fernando’s illustrations have been recognized by some of the most prestigious institutions in the field, including the Society of Illustrators of New York, American Illustration, Communication Arts, the Association of Illustrators of the United Kingdom, and Associazione Autori di Immagini in Italy.
When he's not drawing, Fernando is probably giving talks around the world, mentoring young creatives, obsessing over a new book, collecting Pokémon cards, or making up stories in his head (which he swears counts as work).
He believes illustration is not just about pretty pictures—it’s about empathy, storytelling, and finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.
